Putting our Rotation Proof Artifacts Deck together (Standard Deck Discussion)
So how about this?
For the artifacts idea...
If I play my creatures: Walking Ballista, Electrostatic Pummeler, etc...
They get killed via Abrade (Some will fall to magma spray).
I can have some artifact reanimators in the deck.
But the point will be to get God-Pharaoh's Gift out. There are two ways. Either discard it with Tormenting Voice or play Gift of Afterlife.
If I bring back a Walking Ballista as a 4/4 zombie...4 damage.
If I bring back an Electrostatic Pummeler as a 4/4 zombie...it doubles to 8/8...then 16/16.
So the big questions are...how do I make this happen and on what turn will this go down?
Let's play it out.
Turn 1: Play land and Bomat Courier (available mana=1)
Turn 2: Play land and Key to the City or Scrapheap Scrounger (available mana=2)
Turn 3: Play land and Key to the City/Scrapheap Scrounger/Electrostatic Pummeler/Cultivator's Caravan/Gate to the Afterlife (available mana=3/4)
If you hit Key to the City on turn 2, you can immediately start dumping creatures into the graveyard to trigger Gate to the Afterlife. You can probably expect to have at least one creature killed and one exiled by turn 3. So you'll need a few turns to get six into the graveyard. You can discard all of your God-Pharaoh's Gifts to the graveyard and can use Refurbish to get it back onto the battlefield.
If you have to use Cathardic Reunion to dump creatures, but you'll be vulnerable to attack early in the game. You kind of want to cast protective creatures like Electrostatic Pummeler and Walking Ballista.
Turn 4: Play land and Refurbish if God-Pharaoh's Gift is in your graveyard. If not, play Mirage Mirror. This is one of the most versatile cards in the deck. It can copy your God-Pharaoh's Gift and you can bring back 2 creatures every turn.
So what have we learned? If you want to get an early Jump on the reanimation process, you need to get God-Pharaoh's gift into your graveyard. Then you can Refurbish it back onto the battlefield for turn 4. Having Mirage Mirror on the battlefield will wield you a second reanimation. So here's the perfect play:
Turn 1: Bomat Courier (it dies)
Turn 2: Key to the City (tap and discard God-Pharaoh's Gift)
Turn 3: Play Cathardic Reunion (discard Walking Ballista and Electrostatic Pummeler).
Turn 4: Play Refurbish (bring back God-Pharaoh's Gift-reanimate Walking Ballista and use it to kill a couple of creatures)
Turn 5: Play Mirage Mirror and duplicate God-Pharaoh's Gift. Reanimate more creatures and attack. If you have Electrostatic Pummeler on the field, hit it with Built to Smash (making it a 7/7 with trample), then double it as many times as possible.
Scrapheap Scrounger is out.
This is a good start.
