Digging up the Past (Ixalan with the Previous Sets)

I've jotted down some random notes regarding random ideas that are designed to whet my deck building appetite.  Some of the ideas are not good.  I have left them on the list to help define my thought process a little.


1. Gearseeker Serpent with treasure.
2. Era of Innovation with treasure for energy supply.
3. Insidious Will w/ a copy deck. Add Shrewd Negotiation, Saheeli's Artistry, Vizier of Many Faces.
4. Janjeet Sentry-look for a tap combo.
5. Aethertorch Renegade with infinite energy or just a lot of energy.
6. Reckless Fireweaver with treasure. Add Salivating Gremlins.
7. Gideon's Intervention- Good like Ixalan's Binding/Cast Out...use it.
8. Oketra with infinite mana=infinite warriors...maybe warrior tribal? Maybe use As Foretold to kick start. Maybe add Aven Wind Guide for token flight and vigilance.
9. Insult/Injury used with Open into Wonder.
10. Vizier of Tumbling Sands-refer to previous tap combo.
11. Faith of the Devoted- discard deck. Include Miasmic Mummy, Bloodrage Brawler, Hazoret the Fervent.
12. Heart-Piercer Manticore-Animate a huge vehicle (Consulate Dreadnought or the like) swing and sack. Use with Insult/Injury. Expensive.


I encourage you to do the same.  After a new set hits the street, I learn it.  Once that is done, I read through every card that has been previously printed in Standard with the new set in my mind.  It reminds me that there are other previously unused cards in the meta that can be exploited.

Taking a look at the new mechanic ASCEND, which offers you the 'City's Blessing' if you control 10 or more permanents. Here are the white cards that utilize the ASCEND mechanic: Of these, Radiant Destiny is the most promising. Radiant Destiny becomes an Always Watching, which was a great pairing with the exert mechanic (or any creature card really). Five Color Horses (M19 Standard)-A Deck of Epic Proportions Part 1

It has been a dream of mine to create a deck so overreaching...so incomprehensibly irresponsibly built...that it mocks sensibility and offends even the least practical MTG player.  And it is a dream of mine that the deck feature horses...and not just any horses...but horses of every color available. MTG Content Creator Awards and Ethics

I would like to first sincerely apologize for advertising a nominee who was fired by Star City Games for allegedly sexually harassing women.  My ignorance on the subject was quickly identified, but it was too late to take back any of the additional pain that I caused or could have caused by  irresponsibly throwing out  that name.  To the alleged victims of those acts, please accept my humble apology. This is the second year of this award program, and while I wish that I did not have to learn lessons this way, this event did bring to light a missing piece of this program.  My enthusiasm for getting content creators' names into the public cannot be overshadowed by my responsibility to vet every nominee prior to releasing those names.  Researching individuals by myself for violations of the Wizards of the Coast Code of Conduct is difficult.  And vetting these individuals publicly is not an option due to the possible damage to the integrity of the awards...
